There are three essential entities behind the creation of Bliain Le Baisteach: Sean & Mikael, Met Éireann and the Irish Chamber Orchestra.
Met Eireann logotype To create Bliain Le Baisteach, we had to get all the rainfall data and satellite images from Met Éireann, Ireland's National Meteorological Service. After some exploratory discussions, Met Éireann attacked the problem of gathering all the necessary info, with great enthusiasm.

METEOSAT, (C) European Space Agency

Originally the European Space Agency, the organisation launched its first meteorological satellite in 1977. Meteosat 7, the present operational satellite which is in geostationary orbit above the Equator at 0° W, took the 6-hourly Infra-red images used in the Bliain Le Baisteach and these were received at Met Éireann's HQ in Glasnevin, Dublin.
