World Listening Day 2013

Listening between archeology and legend

We did a soundwalk in the Lough Gur area in County Limerick in Ireland. It's an interesting and complex landscape with both natural features as well as evidence of human habitaion for over 5,000 years. The map, below, hints at some of the landmarks and locations that we are considerting to include in the soundwalk.

This event was open to the public to participate in. We started at the Grange Stone Circle at 12 noon and finished at the summit of Knockfennel. It was one of the warmest days in Ireland this year, 28 °C.

After the soundwalk, we had originally planned to go back to Limerick City and gather in Dr. John's bar to listen and review our collected sounds together, but after such a physically demandning exercise, we stopped at the Hunting Lodge Pub in Ballyneety for a really cold drink and some shadow.
